Quick Search Guide
Basic search:
Search is made by writing word or words in one or more fields and
clicking Search with mouse. You can clear the form by
clicking New search -button. If more than one record
is found a list of
records is shown. You can display more detailed information of records
one by one or showing them all without stopping. Various layout formats
are available.
Truncation and masking:
General truncation character is *, which masks one or many
characters at the start or at the end of the word, i.e. *phosphor*.
Free Text Search:
Free text search is directed to all text- and phrase-fields of the
database. In Free text -field you may also specify the field from which you
want the software do the searching, i.e. la=eng
or mt=asme.
Searching by year/date:
In publication year (and other fields which contain date information)
field it is possible to use < and > -characters, e.g. <1990 or
>1994.
AND & OR:
Words or phrases which are written in the same field in the form
must be connected with Boolean (AND, OR, NOT) operators. Connection between
fields is by default done with Boolean AND.
